Nyagan GRES: start-up operations

24.05.2013

April has marked a remarkable increase of 420 megawatt in the total capacity of the Russian unified energy system. After successfully passing a comprehensive reliability run in March, the 1st power unit of Nyagan GRES was launched into operation by the chief investor OAO “Fortum.” At the same time, the investor commenced the commercial use of the power unit.

The Nyagan GRES is one of the largest built-from-scratch power stations of our generation, not to mention that it represents the largest investment ever made by OAO ‘Fortum.’ When this gas-and-steam turbine power plant is up and running, it will be one of the largest thermal stations north of 62° with three full-charged power units making up a total capacity of 1250 megawatt. A considerable part of the work and efforts that went into the creation of Nyagan GRES came from the Kostroma branch of our company. The work included the installation, testing and commissioning of electric equipment for the launch area. At this time the Kostroma branch is actively engaged in doing the same type of work for the 2nd and 3rd power unites of the Nyagan GRES.
